GeoDesign noted that the exposed footing subgrade material for Lot 124 consisted of a gray
silty SAND(f-m)with gravel(f-c). GeoDesign noted that the east 2/3 of the foundation area could be probed less than 2
inches using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe. GeoDesign noted that the west 1/3 of the foundation area could be probed 1 to
1.5 feet. GeoDesign noted that the exposed foundation subgrade area was saturated from precipitation and was currently
unsuitable for recompaction.
GeoDesign marked the west foundation subgrade area with orange paint and recommended that the material be removed
down to firm and unyielding material. GeoDesign recommends that either the footings be extended down to firm and
unyielding material for the west 1/3 of the foundation area or that the material be removed down to firm and unyielding
material and replaced with 2-inch railroad ballast compacted into a firm and unyielding mass.
A summary of our observations can be found in the attached Figure 1.
The client was notified of our observations via email after our departure from the site.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence ofourrepresentative.Ourwork does not Include supervision or direction of the contractor, the contractor's employees
or agents. Our firm Is not responsible for site safety. This field report Is a DRAFT representation oFour field observations, testing, and preliminary recommendations. The report can only be considered
final upon review of the GeoDesign project manager,as indicated by Initials in the'Reviewed By"section.
10700 Meridian Avenue North,Suite 402 I Seattle,WA 98)33 I 206.838.9900
2502 Jefferson Avenue I Tacoma,WA 98402 I 253.203.0095
