GeoDesign
noted that the exposed foundation subgrade material for the east side of the site was generally covered with approximately
2 to 3 inches of loose and saturated material. GeoDesign recommended that the surficially loose and saturated material be
removed from the foundation subgrade area so in-place density tests could be taken.
Lot 123:
GeoDesign noted that the foundation area had been de-watered and that the foundation excavation subcontractor had
over-excavated the previously identified west side of the lot down 12 to 18 inches. Penetration depths encountered for the
exposed material was less than 3 inches. GeoDesign notified the client that the over-excavated area was suitable to
backfill with permeable ballast material. GeoDesign noted that the foundation subgrade material for the east side of the site
was generally covered with approximately 2 to 3 inches of loose and saturated material. GeoDesign recommended that the
surficially loose and saturated material be removed from the foundation subgrade area so in-place density tests could be
taken.
A summary of our observations can be found in the attached Figure 1.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services,We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not include supervision or direction of the contractor, the contractor's employees
or agents.
