EL/METT <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7226 <br /> A RESOLUTION adopting the Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett has experienced damage from natural and human caused <br /> hazards such as flooding, severe weather, earthquakes and hazardous materials incidents <br /> in the past, and; <br /> WHEREAS, the federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all jurisdictions to <br /> adopt and keep current a local hazard mitigation plan in order to receive disaster <br /> mitigation funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and; <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett received and accepted a Pre-Disaster Mitigation <br /> Program planning grant award of federal funds to update the existing Hazard Mitigation <br /> Plan which had reached the end of its planning cycle, and; <br /> WHEREAS, the mitigation planning process, research and public participation <br /> opportunities, has resulted in a completed Hazard Mitigation Plan, and; <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies and prioritizes a number of <br /> proposed projects and programs targeted at reducing risks from natural hazards and <br /> mitigating disaster impacts, and; <br /> WHEREAS, Washington Emergency Management Division and Federal Emergency <br /> Management Agency, Region X, officials have reviewed and approved the City of <br /> Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan contingent upon the official adoption of this Resolution, <br /> and; <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan represents the City's commitment to <br /> reduce risks from natural hazards, and will serve as a reference in committing future <br /> resources for hazard impact reduction. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND EVERETT <br /> CITY COUNCIL THAT: <br /> The City of Everett hereby adopts the updated 2018 Everett Hazard Mitigation Plan. <br />
