UW Medicine CITY <br /> UW SCHOOL <br /> OF MEDICINE <br /> AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br /> THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON <br /> AND <br /> EVERETT FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> This Agreement, effective as of September 27, 2017, is entered into by and between the <br /> University of Washington ("UW"), a state institution of higher education, on behalf of its <br /> School of Medicine ("School") located at Seattle, Washington, and Everett Fire Department <br /> ("Fire Department"), located at Everett, Washington. School, Harborview Medical Center <br /> and UW Medical Center are among the component entities of UW Medicine, whose mission <br /> is to improve the health of the public by advancing medical knowledge, preparing the next <br /> generation of physicians, scientists and other healthcare professionals, and providing <br /> outstanding clinical care. The purpose of this Agreement is for UW to provide Paramedic <br /> Training for Fire Department's designated employees ("Paramedic Students"). <br /> IN CONSIDERATION OF THE MUTUAL COVENANTS AND AGREEMENTS <br /> CONTAINED HEREIN, UW AND FIRE DEPARTMENT AGREE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> 1. UW and Fire Department agree that upon execution of this Agreement and within the <br /> scope of its provisions, UW may develop letter agreements with Fire Department to <br /> formalize operational details of the Paramedic Training Program for Fire Department's <br /> Paramedic Students. Letter agreements will be considered to be attachments to this <br /> Agreement, and will be binding when signed by authorized representatives of each Party. <br /> 2. UW and Fire Department will instruct their respective faculty, staff, and Paramedic <br /> Students participating in the Paramedic Training Program to maintain confidentiality of <br /> Paramedic Student and patient information as required by law and by the policies and <br /> procedures of UW and Fire Department. <br /> 3. There will be no unlawful discrimination against any program participant or applicant <br /> covered under this Agreement because of race, color, religion, national origin, age, <br /> handicap, status as a Vietnam era or disabled veteran, sex, or sexual orientation, nor will <br /> UW or Fire Department engage in such discrimination in their employment or personnel <br /> policies. <br /> 4. Fire Department and UW acknowledge that the Medic One Foundation provides funding <br /> for Paramedic Students' tuition costs for the Paramedic Training Program. UW may <br /> charge nominal fees for incidental expenses per Paramedic Student/per Paramedic <br /> Training Program session, following discussion between the Parties. <br /> UW template 09/2017 revision <br />
