City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018 <br /> Exhibit A <br /> Program Description <br /> Organization: Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center <br /> Program:Cribs for Kids @ Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center <br /> YOUTH: The Cribs for Kids program at Dawson Place CAC serves families to protect youth from potential <br /> death due to parental delinquency or neglect. <br /> e) Abuse/Neglect Abuse <br /> f) Violence/Delinquency Prevention <br /> Dawson Place has already established a professional network with police departments, Child Protective <br /> Services, and other governmental and non-profit child/family advocacy organizations. This network of partners <br /> has people on the front line who are witness to families where unsafe infant sleeping environments exist.When <br /> one of our partners witnesses a dangerous sleep environment, they either refer the family to Dawson Place for <br /> a free crib, or they pick up a crib from Dawson Place and deliver it to the family in person. <br /> The Cribs for Kids program at Dawson Place CAC is located in Downtown Everett, and serves all of Snohomish <br /> County. <br /> Program Objective: <br /> The Cribs for Kids program at Dawson Place CAC seeks to prevent sleep-related infant deaths caused by <br /> suffocation in unsafe sleeping environments in Snohomish County. <br /> Program Components and Structure: <br /> The Cribs for Kids program at Dawson Place CAC includes a single crib distribution point, and a loose network <br /> of professionals. The program is spread through word-of-mouth, and is highlighted at Dawson Place's speaking <br /> engagements and outreach events. <br /> Each crib includes new sheets, and safe-sleep information/instructions in both English and Spanish. <br /> The program has seen a 75% increase in demand between 2016 and 2017. The program has also established <br /> new funding sources to meet the demand. <br /> Dawson Place Clientele: Target Population <br /> Families in need of a safe sleep crib for their infant, but do not have the financial means to purchase one. <br /> How and when the service will be provided <br /> Free cribs are distributed during Dawson Places CAC's regular working hours: M-F, 8am-4:30pm or by <br /> appointment. They can be picked up by the family directly, or by the family's advocate. <br /> By whom are services provided: <br />
