City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1 through December 31, 2018 <br /> Compass Health <br /> Bailey Growth Center <br /> EXHIBIT A: Program Summary <br /> The Compass Health Bailey GROWTH Center(G=Growth, R=Recovery,O=Opportunity,W=Wellness,T=Trust, <br /> H=Hope)Center is a peer recovery center in which individuals with behavioral health disorders can work on <br /> achieving their personal recovery goals.The GROWTH Center is a program focused on hope, recovery, and <br /> resilience. It provides a safe, positive,welcoming environment for individuals to gather and meet.The GROWTH <br /> Center provides opportunities for socialization, educational classes, presentations, individual peer support, peer- <br /> run groups, and assistance with accessing needed resources and services. Homeless persons with behavioral health <br /> disorders are included in the target population. <br /> Last year the GROWTH center used City of Everett funding to provide cooking classes to the program.These classes , <br /> have assisted participants to gain needed cooking skills,to learn how to read recipes,to gain nutritional <br /> information,to gain food safety knowledge,and to gain information regarding cooking on a budget.These classes <br /> have also increased potential employability of persons who may be interested in working in the food service <br /> industry.GROWTH Center Peer Counselors have also assisted interested persons in applying for food handler <br /> cards. <br /> The Bailey GROWTH Center program meets the City of Everett's Human Needs Priority of Persons with Disabilities. <br /> Individuals served in the GROWTH Center have behavioral health disorders and a number of participants have <br /> severe and persistent psychiatric disorders.All Cooking Class participants are expected to be persons with <br /> behavioral health disabilities.The Growth Center also serves persons with physical disabilities(e.g.individuals who <br /> use wheelchairs or use walkers)and some of these individuals may attend the cooking classes.The City's Health <br /> Services priority is also addressed through referral and coordination of care. Multiple mental health treatment <br /> programs are co-located in the Bailey site including the CPIT(Crisis Prevention and Intervention Team),the PATH <br /> homeless services program, intensive mental health services(IOP and PACT),the HARPS supportive housing <br /> services program,and standard outpatient behavioral health services.The Counseling/Guidance/Legal Services and <br /> Counseling/Guidance priority is addressed at the GROWTH Center via peer counselor coaching and support. <br /> GROWTH Center peer counselors will be able to assist cooking class participants with one on one support to <br /> address their cooking/healthy eating concerns as needed.The Compass Health GROWTH Center serves adults of all <br /> ages including seniors. <br /> The specific objectives of the Bailey GROWTH Center's Cooking and Healthy Eating Classes are to assist participants <br /> in developing food preparation and cooking skills,to enhance their knowledge of healthy eating and nutrition,to <br /> increase their self-sufficiency, and to support participants in incorporating what they have learned into their lives <br /> taking into account their individual needs and recovery plans. <br /> The Bailey GROWTH Center is open five days per week at 3322 Broadway in Everett from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. <br /> The GROWTH Center offers recovery oriented groups and activities that are run by peer counselors, one to one <br /> peer support,and recovery plan assistance.The center also provides computers for participant use. <br /> GROWTH Center staff will run the Cooking and Healthy Eating Classes. Forty four cooking classes will be scheduled <br /> in 2018. GROWTH Center staff will also provide one on one support and assistance as needed to assist class <br />
