City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1 through December 31, 2018 <br /> Victim Support Services <br /> Lola's Place <br /> EXHIBIT A: Program Summary <br /> The program objective is: To meet the increasing demand for free mental health services and'support grbups for <br /> Everett residents who have been hurt or harmed by criminal acts. The main objective will be to promote healthy <br /> coping strategies, healing, and recovery subsequent to victimization. <br /> The program will operate under the purview that everyone has the right to affordable mental health services so that <br /> they can process their experiences and grieve in a safe, healthy environment. The program has five main <br /> components: (1)Therapy-defined as treatment provided by a mental health professional for victims and/or others <br /> who have been impacted by crime.The activities involved in this component include intake and on-going assessment <br /> for participation, treatment session(s) with individuals, groups, and/or families, consultation with other service <br /> providers as needed, and development of a treatment plan; (2) Support Groups - defined as regularly scheduled <br /> meetings of victims of crime and/or others impacted by crime.The goal of this component is to promote emotional <br /> stability,education,and support to assist in recovery from crime victimization.The activities involved include intake <br /> and on-going assessment for participation; facilitation of group sessions; curriculum development and evaluation; <br /> and consultation for facilitators; (3) Information and Referral -connecting victims of crime and others impacted by <br /> violence and/or crime to appropriate resources.This includes activities such as assisting callers/clients in identifying <br /> and prioritizing what is needed,providing information about available resources/services,and providing referrals to <br /> appropriate services/resources as necessary; (4) Outreach and Awareness - defined as providing information and <br /> knowledge about violence,crime victimization,grief,and available services.The goal is to increase the community's <br /> ability to respond to violence and crime victimization, access services, and improve overall community safety and <br /> resiliency. The actvities within this component include outreach with emphasis on underserved and marginalized <br /> communities, community education events, public speaking/presentations, distribution of materials, and the <br /> development of curricula,training materials, and educational tools as necessary; (5) Crisis Intervention -defined as <br /> a personal response to an individual impacted by crime, provided in a variety of settings,with the goal of alleviating <br /> acute distress resulting from the impact of a crime, to begin stabilization, and assist in determining the next steps <br /> for the client(s). <br />
