City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1 through December 31, 2018 <br /> Housing Hope <br /> Child and Family Specialist Program <br /> EXHIBIT A: Program Summary <br /> Program Objective: <br /> 1. Assist families to increase parenting skills to decrease abuse and neglect <br /> 2. Provide one-on-one support and guidance around a child's education and <br /> future <br /> 3. Connect parents to appropriate services for their children's developmental <br /> needs <br /> 4. Connect teens to mental health and chemical dependency services <br /> 5. Coordinate with the Everett School District about Individualized Education <br /> Programs (IEPs), developmental delays and truancy issues <br /> Program Components and Structure: <br /> Homelessness and poverty can be extremely traumatic for developing children and <br /> youth. The Child and Family Specialists provide vital, in-home services to the children <br /> and their parents to overcome these traumas and set families on the path for a lifetime <br /> of success. Services are varied and tailored to the individuals needs of the child and <br /> family. <br /> General services include: <br /> • Assessing the existing situation <br /> • Establishing goals for improvement <br /> • Connecting the child and parent(s) to community resources to mitigate the issue <br /> • Follow-up to ensure and document the improved situation. <br /> Specific examples of intervention for children include: <br /> • For developmental delays in children aged birth to 5: assess the delay and make <br /> referrals to the ChildStrive Parents-As-Teachers program. Design intervention <br /> services for parents and classroom teachers. <br />
