Wk
* GE GE1 DESIGNb c FIELD REp,.4f 5
Project Name: Everett River Front-Simpson Report: 049
GeoDesign#: Polygon-127-03 Date: 06/15/2017
Reports with Unresolved Nonconformance Issues: Permit:
PW1505-005
Nick Abdelnour(Polygon) Randy Allen(City of Everett) Weather: Cloudy, 60's
Ron Bowen(Polygon) Eddy Stevens(Polygon) Arrival/Departure: 1400/1600
Distribution:
Doug Ross(Polygon) Kirk Keck(City of Everett)
Paul McKee(City of Everett) Dave Foster(City of Everett) Prepared By: Ben Weinberg
Attachments: m Site Plan(s) m Density Test Summary Signature:
❑ Installation Records m Other Reviewed By: RL
PURPOSE of VISIT: GeoDesign representative, Ben Weinberg, was on-site part time at the request of Craig with DDS to
observe the foundation subgrade for Lots 263 to 268.
SUMMARY of OBSERVATIONS:
LOT 263:
Previously, GeoDesign noted that Lot 263 had been over-excavated approximately 6 inches down to material which could
be generally probed less than 2 inches and which in-place density tests indicated had been compacted to greater than 95%
of its maximum dry density as determined by a Modified Proctor analysis. Today, GeoDesign noted that the lot area had
been backfilled with a 2-inch clean crushed railroad ballast material which had been compacted into a firm and unyielding
mass. It is the opinion of GeoDesign that the foundation area observed today is currently suitable for support of the
intended structure.
LOT 264:
Previously, GeoDesign noted that Lot 264 had been over-excavated approximately 1 foot down to material which could be
generally probed less than 3 inches and which in-place density tests indicated had been compacted to greater than 95% of
its maximum dry density as determined by a Modified Proctor analysis. Today, GeoDesign noted that the lot area had been
backfilled with a 2-inch clean crushed railroad ballast material which had been compacted into a firm and unyielding mass.
It is the opinion of GeoDesign that the foundation area observed today is currently suitable for support of the intended
structure.
LOT 265:
Previously, GeoDesign noted that Lot 265 had been over-excavated approximately 1.5 to 2.0 feet down to material which
could be generally probed less than 2 inches (with the exception of material near center that could be probed—6 inches and
had been over-excavated 2 feet)and which in-place density tests indicated had been compacted to greater than 95% of its
maximum dry density as determined by a Modified Proctor analysis. Also, GeoDesign previously noted that a non-woven
geotextile material had been placed across the center of the lot area where deeper penetration depths were encountered.
Today, GeoDesign noted that the lot area had been backfilled with a 2-inch clean crushed railroad ballast material which
had been compacted into a firm and unyielding mass. It is the opinion of GeoDesign that the foundation area observed
today is currently suitable for support of the intended structure.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative.
