Today, <br /> GeoDesign noted that DDS over-excavated the above-mentioned area down 6 inches to 1.5 feet. Material exposed at the <br /> base of the over-excavated area consisted of a gray-brown silty SAND with gravel which could be probed less than 1 inch <br /> using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe.GeoDesign notified Craig with DDS that the area was suitable for placement of backfill <br /> material. <br /> GeoDesign noted that DDS began placement of a 2-inch clean crushed railroad ballast material today. <br /> A summary of our observations and density tests can be found in the attached Figure 1. <br /> This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services.We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and <br /> specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative.Our work does not Include supervision or direction of the contractor,the contractor's employees <br /> or agents.
