Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS had over-excavated the previously identified areas down to a
gray to gray-brown silty SAND (f-m)with gravel (f-c)which could be probed less than 1 inch using a 1/2 inch diameter soil
probe.
Relative compaction of the over-excavated footing subgrade material was tested using a Troxler Moisture-Density gauge;
in-place density tests indicated that the material had been compacted to greater than 95%of its maximum dry density.
Craig with DDS stated that the over-excavated areas would be backfilled with a crushed rock or recycled concrete material
later this week. GeoDesign notified the contractor that the over-excavated areas were currently suitable to place backfill
material.
Lot 236:
Upon arrival, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the footing and crawl space area for Lot 236. Craig
with DDS over-excavated the east 1/3 of lot area approximately 6 inches due the presence of loose saturated material.
DDS also over-excavated an approximately 15 feet long x 5 feet wide x 2.5 feet deep section at the west end of the south
side of the lot. GeoDesign noted that the exposed foundation subgrade consisted of a gray to gray-brown silty SAND(f-m)
with gravel (f-c)which could generally be probed less than 2 inches using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe. In-place density
tests indicated that exposed foundation subgrade material had been compacted to greater than 95%of its maximum dry
density.
Craig with DDS stated that the over-excavated areas would be backfilled with a crushed rock or recycled concrete material
later this week.GeoDesign notified the contractor that the over-excavated areas were currently suitable to place backfill
material.
Lot 237:
Upon arrival,GeoDesign noted that DDS had was in the process of excavating the footing and crawl space area for Lot
237. GeoDesign noted that the exposed foundation subgrade consisted of a gray to dark brown silty SAND(f-m)with
gravel (f-c)which could generally be probed less than 2 inches using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not Include supervision or direction of the contractor, the contractor's employees
or agents. Our firm Is not responsible for site safety,This field report Is a DRAFT representation of our field observations, testing, and preliminary recommendations. The report can only be considered
final upon review of the GeoDesign project manager,as indicated by Initials in the"Reviewed By"section,
10700 Meridian Avenue North,Suite 402 I Seattle,WA 98133 I 206.838.9900
2502 Jefferson Avenue I Tacoma,WA 98402 I 253.203.0095
