The main floor is <br /> supported with various beams and walls in the basement. One of these 6x8 :DF#1. beams has been <br /> modified. The bottom of the modified beam has been removed such that remaining section of the <br /> beam is 5.5"wide and 4" high. Steel plates, 3/16"thick, have been strapped to both sides of the <br /> modified beam with 5/16"carriage bolts fastened at 6"on center in a staggered fashion.
