ORDINANCE NO. .O1- 5 / <br /> AN ORDINANCE authorizing the issuance of <br /> warrants in payment of claims after <br /> approval by the Auditing Officer but <br /> prior to approval by the City Council . <br /> WHEREAS, RCW Chapter 42. 29 has been amended to allow for <br /> the issuance of warrants in payment of claims prior to approval <br /> of such claims by the City Council, and <br /> WHEREAS, City Council finds that it is in the best interest <br /> of the City to allow for the expeditious payment of claims in <br /> accordance with RCW Chapter 42. 24, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL <br /> THAT: <br /> Section 1 : Warrants may be issued in payment of claims prior <br /> to approval by City Council but only after <br /> approval by the City ' s Auditing Officer . <br /> Section 2 : The Mayor and City' s Auditing Officer shall each <br /> furnish an official bond in the amount of $50, 000 <br /> each for the faithful discharge of his or her <br /> duties in regard to the issuance of warrants for <br /> the payment of claims. <br /> Section 3 : The City Council shall review and approve all <br /> warrants issued in payment of claims at its first <br /> regularly scheduled public meeting following the <br /> date the warrants are issued. <br /> Section 4: Any claims paid and subsequently disapproved by <br /> the City Council shall be recognized as <br /> receivables of the City and the Mayor and City' s <br /> Auditing Officer shall pursue collection until <br /> the amounts disapproved are collected or until <br /> the City Council is satisfied and approves the <br /> claim. <br /> CITY OF EVERTT <br /> William E.
