1 ORDINANCE NO. /4 <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE authorizing the placement of Fairway Signs with <br /> 3 advertisements on City golf courses and amending Section 5 of <br /> Ordinance No. 3471. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> WHEREAS, commercial signs are available at no cost to the City which depict <br /> 6 <br /> fairway layout and other information relating to configuration of the City golf courses; <br /> 7 <br /> and <br /> 8 <br /> WHEREAS, said signs contain a small advertisement sign thereon; and <br /> 9 <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett Park Board has approved and recommends the <br /> 10 <br /> installation and use of said signs on the City golf courses; and <br /> 11 <br /> WHEREAS, said signs and advertisements are subject to direct contractural <br /> 12 <br /> regulations; <br /> 13 <br /> 14 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 15 Section 1: That Section 5 of Ordinance No. 3471 (EMC 9.06.040), which reads <br /> 16 as follows: <br /> 17 <br /> "It is unlawful to use, place or erect any sign board, sign, billboard, bulletin <br /> 18 board, post, pole or device of any kind of advertising in any park; or to <br /> attach any notice, bill, poster, sign, wire, rod or cord to any tree, shrub, <br /> 19 railing, post or structure in any park; or without the written consent of <br /> the Park Board to place or erect in any park, a structure of any kind, <br /> 20 provided, that the Park Board may permit the erection of a temporary <br /> directional signs or decorations on occaisions of public celebration and <br /> 21 picnics." <br /> 22 <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 23 <br /> 24 "It is unlawful to use, place or erect any sign board, sign, billboard, bulletin <br /> board, post, pole or device of any kind of advertising in any park; or to <br /> 25 attach any notice, bill, poster, sign, wire, rod or cord to any tree, shrub, <br /> railing, post or structure in any park; or without the written consent to <br /> 26 the Park Board to place or erect in any park, a structure of any kind. <br /> 27 Provided, by recommendation of the Park Board and approval of the City <br /> Council, the following signs may be erected in City parks: <br /> 28 <br /> 1. Temporary directional signs or decorations on occasions of <br /> 29 public celebration and picnics. <br /> 30 2. The City may enter into agreements for the installation of <br /> signs which depict the layout of each fairway on the City <br /> 31 golf courses. Said signs may contain advertising matter <br /> which is tasteful and not out of character with general <br /> 32 community standards and morals. <br />
