ORDINANCE NO. /Q/S= kr <br /> AN ORDINANCE creating a special construction fund entitled <br /> "Service Center Improvements Fund 356" for construction of a <br /> new sewer, paint, and welding shop building and the remodeling <br /> of the existing Service Center building at 3200 Cedar Street, and <br /> repealing Ordinance 998-84. <br /> WHEREAS, there is currently insufficient space for parking certain sewer <br /> equipment which must be protected from freezing weather; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has been directed to remove the welding and paint and sign <br /> shops from the main Service Center building due to safety hazards; and <br /> WHEREAS, in the interest of promoting efficiency in operation and improved <br /> customer service in issuing permits, reviewing plans, and coordinating the duties of the <br /> City Inspectors within the Building Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, there exists a need to increase the area available within the <br /> Purchasing Division for the storage and issuance of tools, equipment, and operating <br /> supplies as well as increase the available office space; and <br /> WHEREAS, there exists the need to increase office and work spaces available to <br /> the Water Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, there exists the need to relocate, from temporary facilities into <br /> permanent space, the offices of the Transit Division; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL THAT: <br /> Section 1: A construction fund is hereby established as Fund 356 entitled <br /> "Service" Center Improvement Fund" to accomplsh the actions authorized in subsequent <br /> sections of this ordinance. <br /> Section 2: This ordinance shall supercede and render obsolete Ordinance 998-84 <br /> which is hereby repealed. <br /> Section 3: Authorization is hereby granted to the Director of Public Works to <br /> provide for planning, design, construction, and contract administration as necessary to <br /> accomplish the construction and remodeling activities of Section 4. The City is <br /> authorized to acquire all material, equipment, personal and real property interests <br /> therein, easements, franchises, and rights-of-way necessary to complete all work as <br /> described in this ordinance. <br /> Plans of improvements are on file with the city and such plans shall be <br /> subject to such additions or changes as to details or other changes not affecting the <br /> general plan or its scope and intent, as may be authorized from time to time by the <br /> Public Works Director. <br /> Section 4: Authorization is hereby granted to the Director of Public Works to <br /> construct a sewer, paint and sign, and welding shop. Further authorization is hereby <br /> granted to remodel a portion of the ground floor of the Service Center for a new small <br /> tools storage room and office expansion to be utilized by the Purchasing Division. <br /> Further authorization is hereby granted to remodel a portion of the <br /> second floor of the service center for office and public space to be utilized by the <br /> Building Division. Further authorization is hereby granted to remodel a portion of the <br /> old shop area for office and work space to be utilized by the Water Department. <br /> Further authorization is hereby granted to remodel a portion of the Service Center for <br /> office and work space to be utilized by the Transit Division. <br /> Section 5: The total estimated cost of the improvements herein authorized is <br /> $1,113,000 which will include all related costs for design, construction, contract <br /> administration, plan development, and all related costs. <br />
