• ORDINANCE NO. gg5—6 -F,3 AN ORDINANCE creating a special construction Fund No. 337, "Design and Construction of Water System Improvements" , and repealing Ordinance No. 644-79 as amended by Ordi- nance No. 828-81 . WHEREAS, the City Council has recognized the need to improve the City of Everett Water System as required to assure the safety and orderly growth of the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that many sections of water line within the City are very badly deteriorated and are very expensive to maintain due to the numerous leaks and failures; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that additional fire hydrants will provide an increased measure of fire safety for the citizens of Everett; and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes that new waterline construction within the City has been deferred for the past several years and that many water lines are remaining in operation beyond their recognized practical lifespan; and WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Everett on August 1 , 1979, did propose to Council the construction of over 90 separate sections of water line segments which are in urgent need of replacemant; and WHEREAS, the Everett City Council on August 15, 1979, passed Ordinance No. 628-79 which increased the water rates within the City to provide funds for improvement of the City water distribution system; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE EVERETT CITY COUNCIL THAT: Section 1 : A special construction fund is hereby established as Fund No. 337 entitled "Design and Construction of Water System Improvement Construction Fund" to accomplish the actions authorized in subsequent sec- tions of this ordinance. Section 2: Authorization is hereby given to design and construct water main replacements, relines and new fire hydrants as determined to be required by the Director of Public Works. Section 3: The total estimated csot of the improvements herein authorized is $6,220,000 which will include all costs related for design, construciton, contract administra- tion, plan development and associated costs. Section 4: The Public Works Director of the City of Everett under administration of the Mayor is hereby given the respon- sibility of conducting all tasks outlined under Section 2 above. Section 5: A. The sum of $6,220,000 is hereby appropriated to Fund No. 337, "Design and Construction of Water System Improvements" as follows: 1 . Program 754 - Reline Mains $680,000.00 2. Program 755-Water Project 1W1 344,000.00 3. Program 756-Water Project 1W2 340,000.00 4. Program 757-Water Project 2W3 595,000.00
