3. The proposed amendments promote the best long-term interests of the Everett <br /> community. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1. Paragraph F of Subsection 070, of Section 39 of Ordinance No. 1671-89, as amended <br /> (EMC 19.39.070.F); which reads as follows: <br /> F. Electric Fences. Electric fences are permitted only in the A-1 zone. <br /> Is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> F. Electric Fences. Electric fences may be installed and maintained in the A-1 zone for the <br /> purpose of controlling permitted livestock, provided that no such fence shall border any public <br /> right-of-way or constitute a property line fence. Electric fences are permitted in commercial and <br /> industrial zones using the review process described in Title 15,provided such fence shall be <br /> installed interior to a non-electric perimeter barrier not less than six feet in height. <br /> Section 2. Section 3(B) of Chapter 4 of Ordinance No. 2530-01, as amended(EMC <br /> 15.16.080.A), is hereby amended by the addition of the following: <br /> 50. Electric fences in commercial or industrial zones. <br /> Section 3. Section 1 of Ordinance 4022, as amended (EMC 16.56.010), which reads as follows: <br /> Electric fences. No person shall erect, alter, extend or maintain any fence, wire or structure, <br /> within the city limits of Everett, through which an electric current shall pass for the purpose of <br /> creating and imparting an electric shock to persons or animals that may come in contact with the <br /> same; except,that an electric fence may be installed and maintained in any area zoned A-1 <br /> Agricultural Use Zone for the purpose of controlling permitted livestock provided that no such <br /> fence shall border any public right-of-way and further provided that no such fence shall <br /> constitute a property line fence. Any electric fence erected or maintained in an agricultural zoned <br /> district shall be energized by battery power only and fence controllers shall be UL approved and <br /> so indicated. An"electric fence"warning sign shall be posted at not more than one-hundred-foot <br /> intervals. <br /> Is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> No person shall erect, alter, extend or maintain any fence, wire or structure within the city limits <br /> of Everett through which an electric current shall pass for the purpose of creating and imparting <br /> an electric shock to persons or animals that may come into contact with the same; except as <br /> allowed by EMC 19.39.070.F.
