The deck structure is not sound and suitably connected at main structural connections such as post to pier and main
frame connections. IPMC section 305.4 and 304.10
2. The guard railings are damaged, insufficiently connected, and have spacing between members greater than that
allowed by code. IPMC sections 305.5 and 307.1
3. Some of the photos show a damaged electrical conduit attached to the house that extends beneath the deck. This is
an unsafe condition and a violation of code. IPMC section 605.1
Due to these conditions this structure is Unsafe as defined by code. IPMC section 108.1.2
Permits to repair or replace this structure are required. IRC section 105
Thank you for the opportunity to provide assistance in this matter.
I encourage and support your enforcement actions to abate these conditions.
Regards
Ted M. de eudden
Chief Inspector
Everett Building Department
425.257 7271
From: Edward Golden
Sent: Tuesday, September 12, 2017 9:38 AM
To: Ted de Budden
Subject: CE17-0854 3221 Grand Avenue Side Deck Foundation?
Hi Ted,
CE17-0854 3221 Grand Avenue 98201
Would you please be able to tell me if the existing side deck foundation and footings which are non- attached
suspended, resting on top of cinder block and rock supports attached to the house structure is in violation?
Please take a view of the attachment images to help you.
