I <br /> 1 (******) <br /> 2 Where called for in the Plans, Standard Duty concrete junction boxes and cable I <br /> 3 vault lid assemblies with non-slip surface shall be installed in sidewalks, walkways <br /> 4 and shared use paths. The junction boxes and lid assemblies shall be installed <br /> 5 and adjusted to be flush with surface and match grade of the sidewalk, walkway <br /> 6 and shared use path. Cable vault lid assemblies shall be installed on existing cable <br /> 7 vaults. Any sawcutting or grouting necessary to adjust the lid assembly to grade is <br /> 8 included in the item "Replace Junction Box". 111 <br /> 9 <br /> 10 Concrete junction boxes and cable vault lid assemblies will be City supplied. <br /> 11 Concrete junction boxes will have slip resistant surfaces and load bearing rings will <br /> 12 also be provided. Where shown in the Plans, or where field conditions indicate new <br /> 13 stub outs and sidewalk removal are required, a junction box with a non-slip surface <br /> 14 shall be installed. The City of Everett has reviewed the existing boxes and <br /> 15 anticipates the following quantity and type will need replacement: <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Type 1 w/ non-slip surface - 1 Qty <br /> 18 Type 2 w/ non-slip surface - 8 Qty <br /> 19 Type 8 w/ non-slip surface - 2 Qty <br /> 20 Vault Type LA 444 Lid w/ non-slip surface - 1 Qty <br /> 21 <br /> 22 The Contractor shall adjust existing junction box to new grade in accordance to City <br /> 23 of Everett Standard Drawing 808 and shall be of the type indicated in the plans. <br /> 24 The adjustment operations shall be conducted to prevent damage to any conduits. <br /> 25 All parts or materials damaged as a result of the Contractor's operations shall be <br /> 26 replaced at no expense to the Contracting Agency. If existing conduits prevent the <br /> 27 installation of the base section (load bearing ring) of the new junction box per City <br /> 28 of Everett Standard Drawing 808, then the City of Everett will direct the modification <br /> 29 of the base section or modification of existing conduit. If the base section required <br /> 30 modification or junction box adjustment involves conduit modification, as <br /> 31 determined by the Engineer, payment will be made in accordance with Section 1- <br /> 32 09.6 and Section 8-26. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 All junction boxes and vaults placed in sidewalk or pedestrian path shall meet a gap <br /> 111 <br /> 35 acceptance requirement of no more than '/4" deep depression. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 Following installation of junction boxes or vault lids, a temporary asphalt concrete <br /> 38 sidewalk shall be placed per 2-02.3(3)B, true to grade and free of tripping hazards. <br /> 39 City forces will restore concrete sidewalk at junction box locations at a later date. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 All costs associated with replacing junction boxes or cable vault lid assemblies, <br /> 42 including excavation and installation of junction box load bearing rings, intermediate <br /> 43 and final adjustment to grade, saw cutting or grouting of existing vaults, or other <br /> 44 work to install the junction box in the sidewalk, shall be included in the associated <br /> 45 bid item for Replacing Junction Box. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 111 <br /> 48 8-20.3(14).GR8 <br /> 49 Signal Systems <br /> 50 <br /> 51 8-20.3(14),INSTI.GRB <br /> 52 Section 8-20.3(14) is supplemented with the following: <br /> 53I <br /> HOT MIX ASPHALT OVERLAY-2018 PAGE 48 OF 57 March 6, 2018 <br /> WORK ORDER#3667 <br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />
