1 8-01.3(1)C6 Environmentally Acceptable Hydraulic Fluid <br /> I <br /> 2 All equipment containing hydraulic fluid that operates over surface waters of the state or <br /> 3 below the OHWM, shall be equipped with an environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluid. Il <br /> 4 The fluid shall meet specific requirements for biodegradability, aquatic toxicity, and <br /> 5 bioaccumulation in accordance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency <br /> 6 (EPA) publication EPA800-R-11-002. Acceptance shall be in accordance with Section 1Il <br /> - <br /> 7 06.3, Manufacturer's Certification of Compliance. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 The designation of environmentally acceptable hydraulic fluid does not mean fluid spills <br /> 10 are acceptable. The Contractor shall respond to spills to land or water in accordance <br /> 11 with the Contract. <br /> 12 I 13 8-01.3(1)C7 Turbidity Curtain <br /> 14 All Work for the turbidity curtain shall be in accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> 15 recommendations for the site conditions. Removal procedures shall be developed and <br /> 16 used to minimize silt release and disturbance of silt. The Contractor shall submit a Type <br /> 17 2 Working Drawing, detailing product information, installation and removal procedures, <br /> 18 equipment and workforce needs, maintenance plans, and emergency <br /> 19 repair/replacement plans. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Turbidity curtain materials, installation, and maintenance shall be sufficient to comply <br /> 22 with water quality standards. <br /> 23 <br /> 24 The Contractor shall notify the Engineer 10 days in advance of removing the turbidity <br /> 25 curtain. All components of the turbidity curtain shall be removed from the project. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 8-01.3(1)C1 Disposal of Dewatering Water <br /> 28 This section is revised to read: <br /> 29 <br /> 30 When uncontaminated groundwater is encountered in an excavation on a project it may <br /> 31 be infiltrated within vegetated areas of the right of way not designated as Sensitive <br /> 32 Areas or incorporated into an existing stormwater conveyance system at a rate that will <br /> 33 not cause erosion or flooding in any receiving surface water. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Alternatively, the Contractor may pursue independent disposal and treatment <br /> 36 alternatives that do not use the stormwater conveyance system provided it is in <br /> 37 compliance with the applicable WACs and permits. , <br /> 38 <br /> 39 8-01.3(1)C2 Process Wastewater <br /> 40 This section is revised to read: <br /> 41111 <br /> 42 Wastewater generated on-site as a byproduct of a construction process shall not be <br /> 43 discharged to surface waters of the State. Some sources of process wastewater may be <br /> 44 infiltrated in accordance with the CSWGP with concurrence from the Engineer. Some <br /> 45 sources of process wastewater may be disposed via independent disposal and <br /> 46 treatment alternatives in compliance with the applicable WACs and permits. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 8-01.3(1)C3 Shaft Drilling Slurry Wastewater <br /> 49 This section is revised to read: <br /> 50 1 51 Wastewater generated on-site during shaft drilling activity shall be managed and <br /> 52 disposed of in accordance with the requirements below. No shaft drilling slurry <br /> 53 wastewater shall be discharged to surface waters of the State.
