The main <br /> section of American Legion Memorial Park's playground was destroyed by a fire in February 2017 and was <br /> replaced on an accelerated schedule in order to have the playground open for the 2017 summer season. This <br /> ordinance will replace the remaining section of the playground not previously replaced. The remaining <br /> section is 20 years old and is due for being replaced.Approximately 120 cubic yards of engineered wood <br /> fiber for fall surfacing will also be purchased and installed as part of this project. CIP 3 funding is available <br /> in 2018 for this project. <br /> Staff utilized the King County Director's Association(KCDA)purchasing cooperative contract,in <br /> compliance with the City of Everett purchasing requirements,for this project. Staff met with and reviewed <br /> the design of the new playground with the Northwest Neighborhood association. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Adopt an Ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled"American Legion Memorial Park <br /> Playground Replacement—Phase 2",Fund 354, Program 056, for the Replacement of Park Playground <br /> Equipment. <br /> 19 <br />
