As part of the <br /> initial public feedback on the project,Everett residents requested the City integrate art into the design to beautify the <br /> corridor,improve the customer experience and provide a sense of identity and vibrancy to the corridor. The visual <br /> quality of the bus bulbs will have a positive impact on transit riders,the community at large and the image of the city <br /> with implications for a city's livability and economy. <br /> The Professional Service Agreement(contract)is funded with the City's 1%for the arts fund. The Transit and <br /> Cultural Arts Departments collaborated to develop this contract to design and oversee the installation of public art at <br /> the bus bulbs.This$50,000 contract covers the design phase of the project.The City issued a call for artists for the <br /> project.A 5-member panel reviewed the 21 artists, and selected artist Brian Borrello.The elements under <br /> consideration for artistic treatment include shelter panels,lighted iconic markers,bike racks,wayfinding elements and <br /> seating.This contract includes four community meetings. <br /> After completion of the design phase, Staff will ask City Council to approve the contract for fabrication and <br /> installation. The estimated total budget for design,fabrication and installation for the 26 bus bulbs is $260,000. The <br /> 1%for Art dedicated funds will contribute approximately$80,000 and the North Broadway Transit Improvement <br /> Project Fund will contribute approximately$180,000 for the fabrication and installation. This project is <br /> recommended by the Cultural Arts Commission. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Authorize the Mayor to sign the Professional Services Agreement with Brian Borrello for the Broadway Transit <br /> Corridor.Project in the amount of$50,000. <br /> 79 <br />
