CITY <br /> CITY OF EVERETT <br /> LODGING TAX GRANT MEMORANDUM <br /> This Memorandum created this 4" day of Matt—, 2018,by the City of Everett, a municipal <br /> corporation under the laws of the State of Washington,Mhereinafter referred to as the"City," <br /> memorializes an allocation,not to exceed thirty thousand dollars ($30,000), of the City's Lodging Tax <br /> revenue to the City Cultural Arts Manager, Carol Thomas,to be used for tourism promotion in <br /> connection with Everett's Colors of Freedom Fourth of July event. <br /> City of Everett Lodging Tax revenue is allocated for the purpose of encouraging tourism within the City, <br /> with a particular focus of attracting potential tourists living outside of the City. Therefore,the Cultural <br /> Arts Manager will use the funds allocated under this memorandum to provide tourism promotion for <br /> Everett's Colors of Freedom Fourth of July event. "Tourism promotion"means, for the purpose of this <br /> Agreement, activities, operations, and expenditures designed to increase tourism, including but not <br /> limited to advertising,publicizing, or otherwise distributing information for the purpose of attracting and <br /> welcoming tourists; developing strategies to expand tourism; operating tourism promotion agencies; and <br /> funding the marketing of or the operation of special events and festivals designed to attract tourists. The <br /> Cultural Arts Manager shall, in accordance with her 2018 proposal,which proposal is attached and <br /> incorporated herein by reference,use all funds to support the parade and festival and to promote the <br /> event through print and poster,bus, and print advertising. <br /> As a condition of the allocation,the Cultural Arts Manager must,within thirty(30) days of the end of <br /> the event, submit to the City's Budget Manager, Rae Ann Weighter, an Economic Impact Report, <br /> including, at a minimum the actual number of people attending the event: <br /> • Traveling for business or pleasure on a trip away from their place of residence or business <br /> and staying overnight in paid accommodations; <br /> • Traveling for business or pleasure on a trip to a place fifty miles or more one way from their <br /> place of residence or business for the day or staying overnight; and <br /> • Traveling for business or pleasure on a trip from another country or state outside of their <br /> place of residence or their business. <br /> assi in Date <br /> cc: Carol Thomas <br /> Deb Williams <br /> Rae Ann Weighter <br /> ATor: T: <br /> ROVED To -�M <br /> !A City Clerk <br /> IAp4ES D.ILES,Ci torney <br />
