Although the
permit was ready to be issued upon receipt of payment, if you want to change contractors now, please revise the drawing
stamps as required by the State Fire Marshal, links included below.
This is the City of Everett process to change contractors for installation of the sprinklers:
1. Please advise our Permit Technicians by a letter or e-mail of the contractor revisions for permit.
2. If the scope is the same, please request Ken to come in and mark his competency stamp as design only on all
three sets, and then have the new contractor come in and stamp the drawings with a new certificate of
competency stamp for installation on all three sets, per the State Fire Marshal office regulations. Either Steve
Miller or I can review this competency stamp revision so that the permit can be processed for payment with the
new contractor listed on the permit.
3. If the scope will change from what was previously submitted, please submit three sets of revised drawings from
the new sprinkler contractor for review, to my attention.
Please advise us of how you want to proceed.
Regards,
Nteg
M EG HALEY, R,o. City of Everett Perniit Services
3200 Cedar St, Everett WA 98201 425.257.8813
mhalev@everettwa.ov :-,,. ,-7.., 'I':ni
From: Rodriguez, Humberto (WSP) [mailto:Humberto.Rodriguez@wsp.wa.gov]
Sent: Tuesday, March 22, 2016 2:07 PM
To: Meg Haley
Subject: Licensing and Certification Requirements for Fire Protection Sprinkler Systems.
Good afternoon. As per our discussion, here are the links to the applicable state law and rule governing the
sprinkler trade within the state of Washington:
1) RCW 18.160: http://apps.le r• wa•ov/RCW/deiault.aspx?cite=18.160
2) WAC 212-80: http://apsle.wa.gov/WAC/default.aspx?cite=212-80
The law is a bit harder to glean specifics from as it was written by the industry in 1991 and speaks to intent
while the rules, last revised in 2014, were meant to cleai•ly articulate the requiiements of law. A few
considerations of applicability from the rule supported by law regarding when/how it may apply to the sprinlcler
trade:
A. This is a fire sprinkler contractor law. There are exemptions for home owners (not resellers), engineers,
and government employees wllo are not acting is a contracting company or part of the sprinkler
1
,
