Kirk Brooks
From: Mark Sadler
Sent: Tuesday, November 01, 2016 10:49 AM
To: Tim Markham; Kirk Brooks;Jim Spooner; Paul McKee
C; Jim Venturo
Subject: RE: Sprinkler system submittal for 25 E Marine View Dr/ K1610-002
Mr. Spooner—I see on Go-Sync that the 8-inch feed from the Port's Riverside from the east is shown as the City's. I
believe the meter is east of the tracks and that is the point where the 8-inch ductile becomes a private service line. Can
you verify (did Mike left any notes about it?) and make the map change.
Mr. Brooks-And regardless of the ownership of the service—is this private 8-inch line sufficient for the residual fire flow
requirements? If not Utilities is looking at our own improvements from Medora to WMVD.This 6-inch line needs to be
replaced and is on our radar due to its break history and size. Seems to me the optimal approach could be upgrading
the line from Medora and also adding another service line from WMVD into this area—any way we can work this out?
And since the private system is not separated between hydrants and their service line, the appropriate backflow devise
(double check min) must be included on all connections to us.
Thanks
From: Tim Markham
Sent: Tuesday, November 01, 2016 10:11 AM
To: Mark Sadler
Subject: FW: Sprinkler system submittal for 25 E Marine View Dr/ K1610-002
FYI
Tim Markham CCS
City Of Everett
(425)257-8833
t m a r k h a m@ eve rettwa.ov
From: Kirk Brooks
Sent: Tuesday, November O1, 2016 9:08 AM
To: therondCfiresystemswest.com
Cc: Tim Markham; Jim Spooner; Jim Venturo; Paul McKee; Meg Haley
Subject: Sprinkler system submittal for 25 E Marine View Dr/ K1610-002
Theron,
A review of your submittal and our records indicated that there is no backflow prevention installed for this system
(Building protection and hydrant system). After a review with our backflow specialist and water department
superintendent it becomes apparent that we take this opportunity to address this issue. The water department staff has
done a field review of what they consider the best location for the vault to house the devise. I have attached a drawing
indicating the location and a standard detail of the assembly. The backflow devise will be a condition of the sprinkler
permit but the work can be done concurrentiy with final inspection approval of the system dependent on the backflow
;--, '
1 _%
