ORDINANCE NO. 8'8/-5 2_, <br /> AN ORDINANCE repealing Sec . 3 , Ordinance <br /> No . 779-81 (EMC 5 . 68 . 030) authorizing the <br /> City Council to determine the maximum <br /> number of taxicab licenses to be issued <br /> by the City of Everett. <br /> WHEREAS , the City Council finds that Ordinance <br /> No. 779-81, Sec. 3 (EMC 5 . 68 . 030) should be repealed; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1 : Section 3 of Ordinance No . 779-81 <br /> which reads as follows : <br /> DETERMINATION OF NUMBER OF LICENSES . <br /> The maximum number of taxicab licenses which may be <br /> issued and outstanding at any one time shall be such <br /> number as the city council shall by resolution find <br /> and determine that public convenience and necessity <br /> require . <br /> The city council may by resolution increase or decrease <br /> said number at such time or times as it finds that <br /> public convenience and necessity require the operation <br /> of a greater or lesser number of taxicabs ; provided <br /> that the number may not be reduced so as to work a <br /> forfeiture of outstanding licenses or to prevent the <br /> renewal thereof.
