1 is being held at the direction of a law enforcement agency as evidence of a crime. If <br /> 2 the vehicle was impounded at the direction of a law enforcement agency, the person in <br /> 3 possession of the vehicle prior to the time of reclamation shall notify such agency of <br /> 4 the fact that the vehicle has been claimed, and by whom. <br /> 5 Section 6: OWNER OF RECORD PRESUMED LIABLE FOR COSTS WHEN <br /> 6 VEHICLE ABANDONED - EXCEPTION. (RCW 46.90.335) <br /> 7 1. The abandonment of any vehicle or automobile hulk shall constitute a <br /> 8 prima facie presumption that the last owner of record is responsible for such <br /> 9 abandonment and thus liable for any costs incurred in removing, storing, and disposing <br /> 10 of any abandoned vehicle. <br /> 11 2. A registered owner transferring a vehicle shall be relieved from personal <br /> 12 liability under this section and under RCW 46.90.350, 46.90.355, and 46.90.370 if within <br /> 13 five days of the transfer he transmits to the department a seller's report of sale on a <br /> 14 form prescribed by the director. <br /> 15 Section 7: CONTRACT WITH REGISTERED DISPOSER TO DISPOSE OF <br /> 16 VEHICLES AND HULKS - COMPLIANCE REQUIRED. (RCW 46.90.340) <br /> 17 1. The City of Everett may contract with any tow truck operator who is <br /> 18 engaged in removing and storing of vehicles and who is registered as a registered <br /> 19 disposer by the department for the purpose of disposing of certain automobile hulks, <br /> 20 abandoned junk motor vehicles, and abandoned vehicles. <br /> 21 2. Any registered disposer under contract to the City of Everett for the <br /> 22 removing and storing of vehicles or hulks shall comply with the administrative <br /> 23 regulations relative to the handling and disposing of vehicles or hulks as may be <br /> 24 promulgated by the local authority or the Director. <br /> 25 Section 8: STOLEN AND ABANDONED VEHICLES - REPORTS OF NOTICE - <br /> 26 DISPOSITION. (RCW 46.90.345) It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police or his <br /> 27 designee to report immediately to the Chief of the Washington State Patrol all motor <br /> 28 vehicles reported to them as stolen or recovered, upon forms to be provided by the <br /> 29 Chief of the Washington State Patrol. <br /> 30 In the event that any motor vehicle reported as stolen has been recovered, the <br /> 31 person so reporting the same as stolen shall be guilty of a misdemeanor unless he shall <br /> 32 <br /> -7- <br />
