Ordinance DRAFT 6/5/18 <br /> Commission(which may be identical to the most recent Districting Commission) <br /> to adopt a revised districting plan with the assistance of a districting master, <br /> consistent with subsection(c)of this Section 2.1.However,in the event of an <br /> annexation to be effective in[2020 or in]the second year following the federal <br /> census,district boundary adjustments shall be determined by the Districting <br /> Commission that would have already been appointed in the ordinary course. <br /> Sec.2.2.Eligibility to Hold Elective Office. <br /> No person shall be eligible to hold elective office unless he or she shall have been a <br /> registered voter and resident of the City for a period of at least one(1)year next <br /> preceding his or her election.Residence and voting within the limits of any territory <br /> which has been included in,annexed to,or consolidated with the City is construed to <br /> have been residence within the City.A Mayor or Council member shall hold within.the <br /> City government no other public office or employment. <br /> Is hereby amended to read in accordance with either Option A or Option B, <br /> as follows,pursuant to Section 2 of this ordinance: <br /> tion A 4 Districts,3 at-large] <br /> Sec.2.2 Eligibility to Hold Elective Office. <br /> No person shall be eligible to hold elective office unless he or she shall have been <br /> a registered voter and resident of the City[,and,for Council positions one(1) <br /> through four(4),a resident of an applicable Council dishict,for a period of at <br /> least one(1)year next preceding his or her election][,and,for Council positions <br /> one(1)through four(4),a resident of the applicable Council district for a period <br /> of at least 6 months preceding his or her election].Council members must remain <br /> City residents while in office and must remain residents of any Council district <br /> from which elected.However,if a Council member is elected to a Council district <br /> position for which he or she is qualified by residence at the time of election,and <br /> while remaining in that residence later does not qualify as a resident of the <br /> relevant district because a new districting plan including new district boundaries <br /> has been adopted during his or her term,that Council member shall remain <br /> eligible to serve in the same district position until the end of his or her term or <br /> until a successor is elected and qualified,whichever is later.Residence and voting <br /> within the limits of any territory which has been included in,annexed to,or <br /> consolidated with the City or Council district is construed to have been residence <br /> within the City or Council district,respectively.A Mayor or Council member <br /> shall hold within the City government no other public office or employment. <br /> Option B,[5 Districts,2 at-largej <br /> 5 <br /> 10 <br />
