1 ORDINANCE NO. 7 7 7-f/ <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE repealing Chapter 16 of Ordinance No. 295-74 and <br /> 3 adopting provisions for the regulation of for-hire vehicles in the <br /> City of Everett. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN as follows: <br /> 7 Section 1: DEFINITIONS. For the purposes of this chapter, words and <br /> 8 phrases used herein shall mean as follows: <br /> 9 A. "Cruising" means the driving of a for-hire vehicle on the streets, alleys or <br /> 10 public places of the City in search of, or soliciting, prospective passengers for hire; <br /> 11 B. "Driver" and "operator" shall mean the person physically engaged in <br /> 12 driving a for-hire vehicle, whether or not said person is the owner of or has any <br /> 13 financial interest in the ownership of said vehicle; <br /> 14 C. "For-hire vehicle" shall mean a taxicab, limousine, or sight-seeing car; <br /> 15 D. "Holder" means a person to whom a license has been issued; <br /> 16 E. "Limousine" shall mean every motor vehicle, not operated exclusively <br /> 17 over a fixed and defined route, and which is for hire by a person or persons for exclusive <br /> 18 use upon a consideration determined by hourly rates or a flat charge; <br /> 19 F. "Manifest" means a daily record prepared by a taxicab driver of all trips <br /> 20 made by said driver showing time and place of origin, destination, number of passengers <br /> 21 and the amount of fare of each trip; <br /> 22 G. "Taxicab stand" shall mean the exclusive right to occupy designated areas <br /> 23 which qualify for use in said areas by the issuance of a license as provided in this title; <br /> 24 H. "Person" includes an individual, a corporation, or other legal entity, a <br /> 25 partnership, and any unincorporated association; <br /> 26 I. "Rate card" means a card issued by the City Clerk for display in each <br /> 27 taxicab which contains the rates of fare then in force; <br /> 28 J. "Sight-seeing car" or "charter bus" shall mean every motor vehicle held <br /> 29 for public hire as a common carrier, used primarily for sight-seeing purposes and <br /> 30 generally over a fixed route for a stipulated consideration per trip; and <br /> 31 <br /> 32 -1- <br />
