S/ <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE increasing the penalty for unauthorized parking in <br /> 3 disabled parking spaces; designating disabled parking spaces as <br /> tow-away zones; amending Ordinance No. 608-79 and Ordinance <br /> 4 No. 459-77, Section 26; and adding Section 27 to Ordinance No. <br /> 459-77. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 <br /> WHEREAS, the City has designated certain parking spaces throughout the City <br /> 7 <br /> as being for the use of disabled persons only; and <br /> 8 <br /> WHEREAS, these parking spaces are often occupied by people who are not <br /> 9 <br /> disabled; and <br /> 10 <br /> WHEREAS, the existing penalty of $3 for unauthorized parking in disabled <br /> 11 <br /> parking spaces does not act as a sufficient deterrent; <br /> 12 <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 13 <br /> Section 1: Section 1 of Ordinance No. 608-79 which reads in part as follows: <br /> 14 <br /> 15 Section 26: Penalties for Parking Violations. <br /> 16 Penalties for overtime parking, parking meter violations and feeding the <br /> meter shall be two dollars ($2) per occurrence. Penalty for parking in an <br /> 17 alley without an alley service parking permit shall be four dollars ($4) per <br /> occurrence. Penalty for improper parking shall be one dollar ($1) per <br /> 18 occurrence. All other parking violations shall be three dollars ($3) per <br /> occurrence. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> 21 <br /> Section 26: Penalties for Parking Violations. <br /> 22 <br /> Penalties for overtime parking, parking meter violations and feeding the <br /> 23 meter shall be two dollars ($2) per occurrence. Penalty for parking in an <br /> alley without an alley service parking permit shall be four dollars ($4) per <br /> 24 occurrence. Penalty for improper parking shall be one dollar ($1) per <br /> occurrence. Penalty for parking in a disabled parking space without a <br /> 25 current special card or decal issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles <br /> (Director of Licensing) authorizing use of said space shall be fifty dollars <br /> 26 ($50) per occurrence. All other parking violations shall be three dollars <br /> ($3) per occurrence. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Section 2: Ordinance No. 459-77 is hereby amended by the addition of the <br /> 29 following section: <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> -1- <br /> 32 <br /> 2 <br />
