4 <br /> If approved, this proposition would maintain existing service levels for emergency <br /> medical care and services, including paramedic services, by authorizing an <br /> increase in Everett's emergency medical services property tax levy capacity to the <br /> previously-authorized rate of fifty cents ($0.50) per one thousand ($1,000) assessed <br /> valuation in 2019, and to increase the levy each year thereafter as allowed by Chapter <br /> 84.55 RCW, <br /> Should this proposition be: <br /> Approved? <br /> Rejected? <br /> Section LII. Effect of Election. <br /> Pursuant to RCW 84.55.050, if a simple majority of the qualified <br /> electors voting on the proposition vote in favor of approving, and adoption, <br /> thereof, the proposition shall be deemed approved and shall be adopted. <br /> Thereafter, the City Council shall have the necessary authority to levy, in the <br /> manner provided by law, an emergency medical services property tax levy up <br /> to the amount of fifty cents ($0.50)per one thousand dollars ($1,000) assessed <br /> valuation in 2019 and increasing thereafter as permitted by law. If less than a. <br /> majority of the qualified voters approve the proposition, then it shall be <br /> deemed rejected by the qualified voters, and the City Council shall not increase <br /> the emergency medical services property tax levy above the limits established <br /> in Chapter 84.55 RCW. The City's authority to levy the existing, and <br /> previously approved, emergency medical services property tax levy shall in <br /> no way be affected by either the approval or rejection of the proposition. <br /> Section IV. Filing by City Clerk. <br /> The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to deliver to the <br /> Snohomish County Auditor a certified copy of this Ordinance showing its <br /> passage and including the ballot title set forth herein on, or before,August 7, <br /> 2018. <br /> Section V.
