1EO DE IGN: 445O2 'iV4 FIELD REP
1 of
Project Name: Everett River Front-Simpson Report: 076
GeoDesign#: Polygon-127-03 Date: 10/23/2017
Reports with Unresolved Nonconformance Issues: Permit:
PW1505-005
Nick Abdelnour(Polygon) Randy Allen(City of Everett) Weather: Clear, 60's
Ron Bowen(Polygon) Eddy Stevens(Polygon) Arrival/Departure: 1545/1630
Distribution:
Doug Ross(Polygon) Kirk Keck(City of Everett)
Paul McKee(City of Everett) Dave Foster(City of Everett) Prepared By: Ben Weinberg, EIT
m Site Plan(s) 0 Density Test Summary Signature: 0.f%,--
Attachments: ❑ Installation Records 0 Other
Reviewed By:Lzu-..—e.
PURPOSE of VISIT: GeoDesign representative, Ben Weinberg, was on-site part time at the request of Craig with DDS to
observe foundation subgrade for Lots 207, 218, and 219.
SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS:
LOT 207:
Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the footing and crawl space area for Lot 207. Previously,
GeoDesign noted that BDZ/Northwest Construction removed-3-4 feet of unsuitable fill material down to firm and unyielding
soil and replaced it with structural fill material. GeoDesign noted that the exposed foundation subgrade consisted of a gray
silty SAND (f-m)with gravel (f-c)which could be probed less than 2 inches using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe.
It is the opinion of GeoDesign that the exposed foundation subgrade observed today is currently suitable for support of the
intended structure. GeoDesign recommends that any surficially loose and saturated material that may build up under
foundation areas be removed prior to the placement of concrete.
LOT 218:
Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the footing and crawl space area for Lot 218. Previously,
GeoDesign noted that BDZ/Northwest Construction removed -3-4 feet of unsuitable fill material down to firm and unyielding
soil and replaced it with structural fill material. GeoDesign noted that the exposed foundation subgrade consisted of a gray
to brown silty SAND (f-m)with gravel (f-c)which could generally be probed 2-4 inches using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe.
GeoDesign noted the south perimeter footing area for Lot 218 was submerged during our site visit; GeoDesign noted that
the submerged material could be probed 1 to 1.5 feet using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe.
GeoDesign recommended that this area be dewatered, loose soil removed down to firm and unyielding material, and area
backfilled with a structural fill material. The area was delineated using white spray paint. It is GeoDesign's understanding
that the area will be over-excavated tomorrow.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not indude supervision or direction of the contractor, the contractor's employees
or agents.
