• Description of Public Service Programs Recommended for <br /> Community Development Block Grant Funding in 2013 <br /> 1. Community Health Center of Snohomish County <br /> The Community Health Center is a non-profit clinic providing on-site dental care to low income <br /> people who do not have the health insurance or other resources to pay for dental care. <br /> Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $16,610.00 <br /> 2. Everett Family YMCA - Child Care for Low Income Parents <br /> CDBG funds will be used for the YMCA's child care and day camp programs to meet the growing <br /> need for child care for low-income families. <br /> Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $6,839.00 <br /> 3. Pilchuck Area Council of Camp Fire, Inc. - Camp ships <br /> The funds will provide financial assistance to low income children to attend Camp Killoqua in the <br /> summer of 2013. <br /> Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $2,931.00 <br /> 4. Imagine Children's Museum — Discovery Club Program <br /> The Children's Museum will work with low-income first through third grade children and their <br /> families to increase their social and emotional skills while stopping the"summer slide"; defined by <br /> Scholastic.com as what occurs when, "Many children, especially struggling readers, forget what <br /> they've learned or fall out of practice during the summer months." Imagine's literacy-focused day <br /> camp and family skill building evening program provide these families with knowledge and <br /> resources necessary to break the cycle of poverty. <br /> Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $2,930.00 <br /> 5. Assistance League of Everett— Operation School Bell <br /> The goal of this program is to ensure that homeless children and children living in poverty have <br /> adequate school clothing and hygiene supplies. <br /> Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $12,171.00 <br /> 6. Schack Arts Center—Art Glass Training <br /> Will allow youth from low/mod families to participate in glass blowing and kilnformed glass training. <br /> Sessions run four to six weeks and are to help effectively change the way youth see themselves. <br /> Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $1,954.00 <br />
