• Description of Public Service Programs Recommended for Community Development Block Grant Funding in 2013 1. Community Health Center of Snohomish County The Community Health Center is a non-profit clinic providing on-site dental care to low income people who do not have the health insurance or other resources to pay for dental care. Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $16,610.00 2. Everett Family YMCA - Child Care for Low Income Parents CDBG funds will be used for the YMCA's child care and day camp programs to meet the growing need for child care for low-income families. Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $6,839.00 3. Pilchuck Area Council of Camp Fire, Inc. - Camp ships The funds will provide financial assistance to low income children to attend Camp Killoqua in the summer of 2013. Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $2,931.00 4. Imagine Children's Museum — Discovery Club Program The Children's Museum will work with low-income first through third grade children and their families to increase their social and emotional skills while stopping the"summer slide"; defined by Scholastic.com as what occurs when, "Many children, especially struggling readers, forget what they've learned or fall out of practice during the summer months." Imagine's literacy-focused day camp and family skill building evening program provide these families with knowledge and resources necessary to break the cycle of poverty. Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $2,930.00 5. Assistance League of Everett— Operation School Bell The goal of this program is to ensure that homeless children and children living in poverty have adequate school clothing and hygiene supplies. Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $12,171.00 6. Schack Arts Center—Art Glass Training Will allow youth from low/mod families to participate in glass blowing and kilnformed glass training. Sessions run four to six weeks and are to help effectively change the way youth see themselves. Recommended 2013 CDBG Funding $1,954.00
