01- 366 • 1 ORDINANCE NO. 7wy Sd 2 AN ORDINANCE adopting the Washington State Regulations for Barrier-Free Facilities , 3 October 1 , 1976 as amended October 1 , 1976 and April 18 , 1979. 4 5 WHEREAS, the City of Everett desires to provide for 6 standards and specifications for making buildings and facilities 7 accessible to and usable by physically handicapped persons ; 8 and 9 WHEREAS, the State of Washington Regulations for 10 Barrier-Free Facilities as promulgated by the State of Washingto 11 Building Code Advisory Council is enacted herein as protection 12 to the general public and not to create a duty to or in favor 13 of persons individually; 14 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 15 Section 1: The Regulations for Barrier-Free Facilitie- 16 as promulgated by the State of Washington Building Code Advisory 17 Council amended October 1, 1976 , April 18 , 1979 as amended 18 herein is hereby adopted and enacted by reference as though 19 fully set forth at length herein. 20 Section 2 : Section 002 . of the Regulations for 21 Barrier-Free Facilities as promulgated by the Washington State 22 Building Code Advisory Council is hereby amended to read as 23 follows : 24 Purpose 25 Section 002. It is expressly the purpose of 26 this Code to provide for and promote the health, 27 safety and welfare of the general public, and 28 not to create or otherwise establish or designate 29 30 31 32
