Fairs,arts festivals, concerts, sporting activities, parades,marches,and fun runs give Everett residents and visitors the opportunity to celebrate, support charitable causes, and engage in civic life. Interest in producing special events in Everett has grown substantially over the past few years. The events have gotten larger and more complicated to manage, from both the organizer's standpoint and for city staff who provide guidance and support to ensure that public health, safety and welfare are protected. This Ordinance provides the foundation on which a new Special Events Permit program has been built. Other program components include new administrative procedures, and a new web page with event guidelines,frequently asked questions, online permit applications, staff contacts, and quick links to other helpful information. The purpose of the new program is to improve the City's processes and provide clear and easily accessible infoiutation to assist organizers in producing successful events in the City of Everett.
