Subject: Additional Geotechnical Engineering Services Beverly Lake Sewer Improvements Everett,Washington Dear Ed: As requested, HWA GeoSciences Inc. (HWA) is pleased to present this scope of work to provide additional geotechnical engineering services for the assessment of the Beverly Lake Sewer Improvements in Everett, Washington. The need for additional services is associated with utility alignment changes will require additional geotechnical explorations and analysis to complete the design. PROJECT UNDERSTANDING It is our understanding that the City of Everett would like to reconstruct portions of the sewer lines serving the apartment and condo buildings situated along the eastern end of Beverly Lake. We understand that the current sewer system consists of a series of gravity lines and associated manholes. We understand that the City has adopted a specific improvement plan (option B)that could serve to alleviate the need to regular maintenance of the system. The improvements include abandoning the existing gravity city main and easement and subsequently adding a new private main gravity/easement gravity and city force main systems. The alignment of the city gravity main and easement will be directed away from Beverly Lake rather than within the lake. We understand that the City of Everett desires to evaluate the soil and slope conditions in the vicinity of the system to help in developing and designing a preferred sewer improvement alternative. Supplementary Field Explorations • Plan Supplementary Field Exploration Program:HWA will plan a supplementary field exploration program that provides subsurface soils and groundwater information along the unexplored portion of the chosen utility alignment.
