Collaborative efforts are underway, led in part by the
Association of Washington Cities,to introduce bills in the 2019 State Legislative Session that would make
policy changes to the Washington Condominium Act of 2005. These changes would encourage more
condominium development by lowering perceived risks and uncertainty imposed by the Act in several ways,
including clarifying the nature of a construction defect and incentivizing repairs rather than monetary
damages as a remedy.
RECOMIlVIENDATION(Exact action requested of Council):
Adopt a Joint Resolution of the Everett City Council and Mayor supporting changes to the Washington
Condominium Act.
55
