Everett's Housing Element <br /> The Growth Management Act (GMA) requires the city to adopt a Housing Element. The city's housing goal is to meet the <br /> housing needs of present and future residents for housing that is decent, safe, accessible, attractive and affordable. Objectives <br /> and policies address the following housing subjects: <br /> • Housing types and opportunities • Subsidized housing— low income and special needs <br /> • Housing preservation and neighborhood character populations <br /> • Housing affordability • Countywide fair share housing issues <br /> • Jobs/housing balance • Housing production targets <br /> • Residential infill development • Residential energy efficiency <br /> • Home ownership • Neighborhood stabilization and foreclosure <br /> • Multiple family housing— location and compatibility prevention <br /> • Resistance to natural disasters <br /> The city also has a Consolidated Plan, required as a condition of receiving federal Community Development Block Grant and <br /> HOME Partnership funds. This plan addresses housing and community development needs for low-income persons. <br /> Community Streets Initiative iforp07: <br /> In 2014, the city convened a Community Streets Initiative Task <br /> Force to foster a vibrant and healthy community by better ,.40, <br /> understanding the street level social issues, such as poverty and . <br /> homelessness, in Everett's commercial core areas.
