In addition,the SROs will serve as a positive <br /> resource to students, staff and parents-with information,support and problem-solving <br /> mediation and facilitation on topics such as: school safety,alcohol and drug trends,gang <br /> activity,social media/internet safety,and neighborhood safety issues. <br /> B. The parties agree to follow the goals and expectations outlined in the Everett Police <br /> Department SRO Handbook which includes the best practices of the National Association of <br /> School Resource Officers(NASRO).The SRO Handbook will be updated every three(3) <br /> years at a minimum in conjunction with the renewal of this agreement.It is agreed that the <br /> City will select the officer to be assigned as an SRO to each of the five schools after <br /> consultation with the District. It is intended that the SROs be at the designated schools on <br /> days that school is in session,for his/her forty-two(42)hour work week. SROs are expected <br /> to be punctual in reporting to their assigned school prior to or during the general arrival of <br /> students unless previously approved by the Youth Services Sergeant.SROs are expected to <br /> schedule days off and vacations in conjunction with the school calendar.Vacation or elective <br /> time off during the school year will be approved on a case-by-case basis by the Youth <br /> Services Sergeant. If an assigned SRO assigned to either Everett High School or Cascade <br /> High School is transferred to the City's Police Department Administrative Services Division <br /> because of extended absence or other circumstances,the City will select an alternate SRO to <br /> be assigned to the school within thirty(3o)days. In the event the City is experiencing a <br /> Police staffing shortage that prevents assignment of an alternate SRO to either Everett High <br /> School or Cascade High School,the parties agree to renegotiate the Agreement as set forth in <br /> Section 4. <br /> C. While school is in session,the SRO's daily schedule will be as mutually agreed upon by the <br /> school principal,the SRO and the Youth Services Sergeant to maximize the SRO's positive <br /> impact on the school community. On scheduled workdays when school is not in session <br /> (summer vacation,school breaks,holidays,etc.),the SROs will work on assignments as <br /> determined by the Youth Services Sergeant. <br /> D. The City and the District agree to a regular reporting system that will include reports two(2) <br /> times per year due to the District by January 31 and June 30,by the City's Police <br /> Department detailing activities performed by the SROs at their respective schools.The <br /> District Superintendent, Chief of Police,Youth Services Sergeant, and other appropriate staff <br /> will meet to confer on the health and effectiveness of the Program and to review the reports <br /> in January and June. Such reporting system may be modified by the mutual written <br /> agreement of the parties. <br /> E. The City and the District agree to meet twice a year,near the end of each school semester,to <br /> discuss the Program and its benefits and shortcomings in an effort to modify the Program to <br /> provide the best possible service to the City and the District.These meetings will include the <br /> City Mayor and the District Superintendent. <br /> Section 2: Funding <br /> For the 2018-2019 school year,the District shall pay the City a total of two hundred thirty-six <br /> thousand three hundred and ninety-six dollars($236,396.00)for the high school SRO Program. <br /> For the 2019-2020 school year,the District shall pay the City a total of two hundred forty-six <br /> thousand five hundred and sixty-eight dollars($246,568.00)for the high school SRO Program. <br /> For the 2020-2021 school year,the District shall pay the City a total of two hundred fifty-seven <br /> thousand three hundred and twenty-five dollars($257,325.00)for the high school SRO <br /> Everett SRO 2018-2021 Page 2 of 4 <br />
