1ORDINANCE NO. �f - 7 y <br /> 2 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing regular salaries for Council members of the <br /> 3 City of Everett, establishing a date for the salaries to take effect, and <br /> retaining salary levels in effect and to be in effect prior to the <br /> 4 effective date of this ordinance. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 <br /> WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Everett was ratified on June 25, 1968; and <br /> 7 <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2.8 of the Everett City Charter establishes interim <br /> 8 <br /> compensation for elective officers until such time as a regular salary ordinance is <br /> 9 <br /> passed; and <br /> 10 <br /> WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 477-77 establishes a regular salary for City Council <br /> 11 <br /> members effective January 14, 1980; and <br /> 12 <br /> WHEREAS, it is important to recognize the increasing complexity of good City <br /> 13 <br /> government which creates additional time commitments and responsibility for Council <br /> 14 <br /> members; and <br /> 15 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to provide for an orderly progression of salary rates; <br /> 16 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 17 Section 1: The salary of each City Council member shall be increased by the <br /> 18 same percentage as the annual average salary increase for all non-union employees of <br /> 19 the County of Snohomish, a governmental entity, except the percentage shall not <br /> 20 exceed the percentage of annual average salary increase of all City of Everett non- <br /> 21 union employees for the same period of time. The average percentage increase of all <br /> 22 non-union employees of Snohomish County shall be determined by using the calculations <br /> 23 of the office of the Snohomish County Commissioners. These calculations shall be the <br /> 24 average percentage salary increase given all Snohomish County non-union employees for <br /> 25 the time period February 1 through January 31 last preceding the date as City Council <br /> 26 salary adjustment for which such calculations are to be used. <br /> 27 Section 2: The salary increase as specified herein shall be given each year on <br /> 28 February 1 beginning February 1, 1982. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
