• <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 6-57- <br /> AN <br /> 5f-AN ORDINANCE amending the Uniform Fire Code, 1976 Edition, as <br /> adopted in Ordinance No. 531-78 to provide for the disposition of <br /> buildings which constitute dangerous buildings and are declared a <br /> public nuisance as set forth in the U.F.C., 1976 Edition, Section 1.207 <br /> (b). <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett adopted the Uniform Fire Code, 1976 Edition; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Everett desires to redefine which unsafe <br /> buildings constitute a public nuisance; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Section 1.207 (b) of the Uniform Fire Code, 1976 Edition, <br /> reads as follows: <br /> (b) All buildings or structures which are structurally unsafe or not <br /> provided with adequate egress, or which constitute a fire hazard, or are <br /> otherwise dangerous to human life, or which in relation to existing use <br /> constitute a hazard to safety or health, or public welfare, by reason of <br /> inadequate maintenance, dilapidation, obsolescence, fire hazard, disaster <br /> damage, or abandonment, as specified in this Code or any other effective <br /> ordinance, are, for the purpose of this Section, unsafe buildings. All such <br /> unsafe buildings are hereby declared to be public nuisances and shall be <br /> abated by repair, rehabilitation, demolition, or removal in accordance <br /> with the procedure specified in Chapters 4 through 9 of the Uniform Code <br /> for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings or by any other procedures <br /> provided by law. <br /> Be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> (b) Dangerous buildings or places defined and declared to be a <br /> nuisance, and standards of repair and correction or demolition. <br /> All buildings, structures, premises, places and yards which have any <br /> or all of the following conditions, shall be deemed dangerous buildings or <br /> places and are hereby declared to be a nuisance and shall be repaired, <br /> corrected, vacated, removed or demolished as hereinafter provided. <br /> (1) Dangerous or unlawful amounts of combustible <br /> or explosive or otherwise hazardous material; <br /> (2) Hazardous conditions arising from defective or <br /> improperly installed equipment for handling or using <br /> combustibles or explosives or otherwise hazardous materials; <br /> (3) Dangerous accumulations of rubbish, waste <br /> paper, boxes, shavings, underbrush or other highly flammable <br /> materials; <br /> (4) Accumulations of dust or waste material in air <br /> conditioning or ventilator systems or grease in kitchen or <br /> other exhaust ducts; <br />
