That Appendix "B" of the Uniform Mechanical Code be, and is hereby <br /> 14 <br /> amended by adding a new chapter, Appendix B, chapter 23, Water Heaters. <br /> 15 <br /> Section 2301 - General <br /> 16 <br /> The regulations of this chapter shall govern the construction, locations <br /> 17 and installation of all fuel burning and other water heaters heating potable <br /> water, together with all chimneys, vents and their connectors. All design, <br /> 18 construction and workmanship shall be in conformity with accepted <br /> engineering practices and shall be of such character as to secure the <br /> 19 results sought to be obtained by this code. No water heater shall be <br /> hereinafter installed which does not comply in all respects with the type <br /> 20 and model of each size thereof approved by and listed by an approved <br /> testing agency and/or the Building Official. (For the convenience of users <br /> 21 of this Code, a list of generally accepted gas equipment standards is <br /> included at the end of Chapter 2.) <br /> 22 <br /> Section 2302 - Definitions <br /> 23 <br /> (a) Chimney is a vertical shaft enclosing one or more fluels for <br /> 24 conveying fuel gases to the outside atmosphere. <br /> 25 (b) Chimney Connector is the pipe which connects a fuel- <br /> burning appliance to a chimney. <br /> 26 <br /> (c) Combustible Material: Walls, floors, ceilings, shelves or <br /> 27 other parts of a building constructed of wood, wood lath and <br /> plaster, composition or paper. <br /> 28 <br /> (d) Vent Connector: Is that portion of a venting system which <br /> 29 connects an appliance to a vent. <br /> 30 (e) Vent: Is listed factory-made vent pipe and vent fittings for <br /> conveying products of combustion to the outside <br /> 31 atmosphere. <br /> 32 <br /> - 13 - <br />
