. <br /> 1 (b) Except when reconditioned by the manufacturer or his <br /> approved agent in accordance with its original approval <br /> 2 requirements and reinstalled at its original location, each <br /> reconditioned water heater or hot water boiler shall be <br /> 3 tested for safety and conformity to approved standards, and <br /> shall bear the label of an approved testing agency certifying <br /> 4 and attesting that such equipment has been tested and <br /> inspected and meets the requirements of applicable <br /> 5 standards. Such label shall also state clearly that the water <br /> heater has been reconditioned, and shall give the name and <br /> 6 address of the reconditioner. Every person applying for a <br /> permit to install a used or reconditioned water heater shall <br /> 7 clearly state on his application for permit that such <br /> equipment is used or reconditioned. <br /> 8 <br /> (c) Gas storage-type water heaters and hot water boilers shall <br /> 9 be provided with, in addition to the primary temperature <br /> controls, an over-temperature safety protection device <br /> 10 constructed, listed and installed in accordance with <br /> nationally recognized applicable standards for such devices. <br /> 11 <br /> Section 2306 - Oil Burning and Other Water Heaters <br /> 12 <br /> (a) Water heaters deriving heat from fuels or types of energy <br /> 13 other than gas shall be constructed and installed in accor- <br /> dance with approved standards in a manner satisfactory to <br /> 14 the Building Official. Vents or chimneys for such appliances <br /> shall be approved or listed types and shall be installed in <br /> 15 conformity with their conditions of approval and Section <br /> 2312. Proper provision shall be made for an adequate supply <br /> 16 of air for combustion and for adequate ventilation of heater <br /> rooms or compartments as required by Section 2307. Each <br /> 17 such appliance shall be installed in an approved location <br /> satisfactory to the Building Official and to local and State <br /> 18 fire prevention agencies. <br /> 19 (b) All storage-type water heaters and hot water boilers <br /> deriving heat from fuels or types of energy other than gas, <br /> 20 shall be provided with, in addition to the primary temper- <br /> ature controls, an over-temperature safety protection <br /> 21 device constructed, listed and installed in accordance with <br /> nationally recognized applicable standards for such devices. <br /> 22 <br /> Section 2307 - Enclosures and Combustion Air <br /> 23 <br /> (a) Fuel burning water heaters shall be assured a sufficient <br /> 24 supply of fresh air for proper fuel combustion and <br /> ventilation. <br /> 25 <br /> (b) Provisions shall be made to supply fresh air to the space in <br /> 26 which fuel burning water heaters are located if the volume <br /> in cubic feet of this space is less than: <br /> 27 <br /> 1. One-twentieth of the maximum rated input in <br /> 28 B.T.U.'s of gas burning water heaters, and other <br /> affected gas appliances, except listed ranges, hot <br /> 29 plates, and refrigerators, in such space. <br /> 30 2. One-tenth of the maximum rated input in B.T.U.'s of <br /> all water heaters and other affected appliances <br /> 31 burning solid and liquid fuel in such space. <br /> 32 (c) Methods of Supplying Air: <br /> - 15 - <br />
