CO Z.- 7/ <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing a Charter Review Committee. <br /> 1 <br /> 2 WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Everett has been in effect for over ten <br /> 3 (10) years; and <br /> 4 WHEREAS, the City Council is in agreement with the past Mayors Robert <br /> 5 Anderson and Joyce Ebert as well as the present Mayor William Moore, that it is <br /> 6 worthwhile to examine the City Charter from time to time in light of past experience <br /> 7 and present attitudes; and <br /> 8 WHEREAS, a citizens committee is a valuable tool with which to analyze the <br /> 9 practical application of the Charter to present day administration of our City; <br /> 10 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 11 Section 1: A Charter Review Committee is hereby created to be comprised of <br /> 12 persons from the community designated by the Mayor. <br /> 13 Section 2: The Charter Review Committee is created to examine and evaluate <br /> 14 the City of Everett Charter and to recommend to the City Council changes, if any, the <br /> 15 Committee feels is appropriate. <br /> 16 Section 3: Members of the Charter Review Committee shall not receive any <br /> 17 compensation; provided, however, the Committee is authorized to expend up to three <br /> 18 thousand dollars ($3,000) as needed for support expenses it deems necessary and <br /> 19 reasonable or such other monies the City Council shall allocate to the Committee.
