• <br /> • <br /> Section 11 General Requirements of Culpability <br /> ••(1) Minimum Requirement of Culpability <br /> .A person is not guilty o1 an offense, other than an offense which <br /> •:involves absolute liability, unless with respect to each material <br /> a,aiement described by the section defining the offense, he acts <br /> {�li�le having one of the mental states described in subsection (2) . <br /> (2) 7Lind.s of Culpability Defined <br /> :•(a) •In.tent <br /> J. person intends or acts intentionally or with intent to <br /> •.:cccomplish a result or to engage in conduct described by <br /> •Ahe section defining the offense, -when his conscious <br /> :)objective or purpose is to accomplish such a result or to <br /> • -•4: ngage in conduct of that nature . <br /> • <br /> :--(b) Knnwlecive <br /> A person. knows or acts knowingly or with knowledge with <br /> -;respect to: <br /> • <br /> e.(i) a result described by a section defining z'ri offense , <br /> - •-1 hcn he is aware that it is substa.ncial}y certain <br /> :haat his conduct will cause such result; or <br /> • <br /> • •.(ii) :conduct described by a section defining: offe.nse <br /> . viien.he is aware that his conduct is of that nature; <br /> or. <br /> a circumstance described <br /> escribad aY a section defining an• •—.offerisc , when, he is aware that such circumstance <br /> • . exists; or <br /> ,(iv) -a particular fact, when he is aware that there is a <br /> -_izigh probability that such facts exists. <br /> -:-(c) -Recklessness <br /> • <br /> A person is reckless or acts recklessly when be knows of <br /> nd consciously disregards a substantial and unjustifiable <br /> Fisk that: <br /> :(i) the result described by a section defining an offense <br /> •may occur; or. <br /> •-•(ii) a circumstance described by a section defining an <br /> Offense exists , and when the disregard of such risk <br /> constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of <br /> • •conduct that a reasonable person would exercise <br /> in the situation. <br />
