ORDINANCE NO. q3 7 - 77 7 AN ORDINANCE adopting the 1976 Edition/of the Uniform Housing Code; repealing Ordinance No. 298-74, commonly known as E.M.C. Chapter 16.08. 1 2 WHEREAS , it is important for the City of Everett to have contemporary 3 minimum requirements of general application for the protection of life, limb, 4 health, property, safety and welfare of the general public and owners and 5 occupants of residential buildings; 6 WHEREAS , the Housing Code, 1976 Edition, as promulgated by the Interna- 7 tional Conference of Building Officials is enacted herein as protection for the 8 9 general public and not to create a duty to or in the favor of persons individually; 10 NOW , THEREFORE , THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 11 Section 1: The Uniform Housing Code, 1976 Edition, as promulgated by the 12 International Conference of Building Officials , as amended herein, three (3) 13 copies of which are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Everett, 14 is hereby adopted and enacted by reference as though fully set forth at length 15 herein. 16 Section 2: Chapter 1, Section 102 of the Uniform Housing Code, 1976 17 Edition as promulgated by the International Conference of Building Officials is 18 19 hereby amended to read as follows: 20 Purpose 21 Section 102. The purpose of this Code is to provide minimum 22 requirements for the protection of life, limb , health, property, safety and welfare of the general public and the owners and occupants of 23 residential buildings . This Code is intended to be a law of general 24 application for the benefit of the public at large; it is not intended to impose liability on the part of the City of Everett or its employees 25 running to individual members of the public 26 Section 3: Chapter 3 of the Uniform Housing Code, 1976 Edition as promul- 27 gated by the International Conference of Building Officials is hereby amended by 28 29 adding a new section which reads as follows: 30 31 32
