The City's parking regulations are designed to ensure that parking is managed for the benefit of
the entire community. Parking fines are an important component of the City's parking regulations and serve
to deter violations. The City's parking fines, last revised in 2009, are out-of-date and have lost some of their
preventive value.
This Ordinance enacts the following rate increases:
Description Current Proposed
Over Time Limit $20 $40
Unauthorized Alley Parking $20 $40
All Other Violations (Not Handicapped Parking Violations) $20 $40
After Six Tickets $50 $70
The new rate schedule brings Everett's parking fines back in line with other jurisdictions in the Puget Sound
Region. There is no change to the handicapped parking violation fine, which remains at$250plus
additional assessment of$200 per 46.19.050 RCW,and is consistent with other jurisdictions.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Ordinance Relating to Parking,Amending Section 27 of Ordinance No.
2180-96 as Amended(46.28.270 EMC).
13
