Ordinance# <br /> AN ORDINANCE creating Department 018 in the general fund,entitled Communications and Marketing, <br /> to account for all transactions relating to the operations of the Communications and Marketing <br /> Department. <br /> WHEREAS,open and effective public.communication is essential to the City's goals of transparency in <br /> government and community engagement;and <br /> WHEREAS, centralizing the City's communications and marketing, efforts will improve coordination and <br /> alignment of those activities with the City's goals;and <br /> WHEREAS,the Communications and Marketing Department will lead all City communications, media <br /> relations, marketing and branding,and public outreach; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Communications and Marketing Department will support and work closely with the <br /> Community, Planning, and Economic Development Department's efforts in tourism promotion;and <br /> WHEREAS,the Communications and Marketing Department will also manage the City's government <br /> access channel,as well as City websites and social media;and <br /> WHEREAS,the Communications and Marketing Department will provide oversight for and coordinate <br /> work with public information and education staff in other City departments; <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: <br /> Department 018 is <br /> p herebyestablished in the "Communications general fund,and d shall be entitled and <br /> Marketing"to account for all transactions relating to the activities of the Communications and <br /> Marketing Department. <br /> Section 2: <br /> Authorization is hereby given to accumulate costs and distribute payments from Department 018 of the <br /> general fund for the activities of the Communications and Marketing Department. <br /> 18 <br />
