.64140TE TT <br /> Ordinance# <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Planning&Community Development Department 021,to be entitled <br /> Community, Planning,and Economic Development,toaccount for all transactions relating to the <br /> operations of the Community, Planning and Economic Development Department. <br /> WHEREAS,community development is essential to building an engaged population that is active in civic <br /> matters,celebrates and welcomes diversity, has <br /> ty, concern for the welfare its neighbors, <br /> optimism and engenders <br /> pt mism in the future of the Cityof Everett;and <br /> WHEREAS, planning activities,through the Zoning Code and Comprehensive Plan, establish sensible <br /> rules for land use that create a livable direction for the location and density of development,while <br /> protecting the City's natural resources;ces•and <br /> WHEREAS,economic development creates places where people-want to invest,work and live. Through <br /> its initiatives, connections are made between individuals,companies, institutions, and communities to <br /> generate family wage jobs,promote a sense of vitality,and ensure that resources will be available to <br /> fund the essential public services necessary to meet the needs of the City's growingpopulation; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,community, planning,and economic develop activities are fundamentally interconnected <br /> and,together, provide a framework that both protects and enhances the quality of life in Everett;and <br /> WHEREAS,consolidating community,planning,and economic development in one department will <br /> ensure that these functions are aligned and movingin <br /> a common direction,which will improve <br /> rove <br /> operational efficiencies and effectiveness; <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: <br /> Department 021 of the general fund is hereby revised, and shall be entitled "Community, Planning, and <br /> Economic Development"to account for all transactions relating to the activities of the Community, <br /> Planning,and Economic Development Department. <br /> Section 2: <br /> Authorization is hereby given to accumulate costs and distribute payments from Department 021 of the <br /> general fund for the activities of the Community, Planning and Economic Development Department. <br /> 22 <br />
