 LSI Adap!
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The host parcel is located at 9910 Evergreen Way in Everett, Washington. The site is occupied by the
Buzz Inn restaurant. We understand Sprint PCS proposes to replace a wooden light pole in the restaumnt
parking lot with a cellular cc:nmunications tower and to construct cellular cabinets in the ] 0-foot by 27-
foot lease area. The ropography of the proposed equipment lease area is relatively level, with ground
cover consisting o1' an asphalt-paved parking lot. The proposed equipment Ica area can be accessed
utilizing the existing parking ]ot. The project site and surrounding area are s},,, a on the attached site
vicinity map (I,ocation Map, Figure 1). The attached Site Plan (Figure 2) shows the ap;;roximate location
of the proposed cellular tower lease area in relation to other site features.
It should be emphasized that the conclusions and recommendations contained in this repori aro based on
ur understanding of the currently proposed utilirtion of the project site, as derived frum written
information supplied to us by KDC Architects and Sprint PCS. ConsequenAy, if any changes are made to
the project, we recommend that we review the char_ges and modify our recommendations, if appropriate,
to reflect those changes.
ERPLORATORY :IGTHODS
VVe initially explored surface and subsurface conditions at tlie proiect site on .luly 31, 2003. Our surface
exploration consisted of a visual site reconnaissancc. Our subsurface e;:ploration consisted of advancing
a single soi] test boring to a depth of approximately 29.5-1'ee[ beiow the existing site grade. The
approximate location of the boring, designated as B-I, is shown on the attached Site Plan (Figure 2). The
location of the exploration and other 1'eatures shown on Figure 2 were obtained by hand taping from
existing site features. As such, the exploration location shown on Figure 2 should be considered accurate
to the degree implied by the mcasuring methods used.
Boring Method.r
Borine B-1 was advanced on July 31, 2003 using a truck mounted dritl rig. The drill rig was operated by
an independent company working under subcontract to Adapt. A geotechnical representative was on-site
to observe the Uoring, obtain representative soil samples, and log tle subsudace conditions. Afrer the
boring was completed, the borehole vas bacl:filled with a mixture of soil cuttings and bentonite chips.
During drilling, soil samples were obtained on 5-foot depth intervals using the St.:ndard Penetration Test
(SPT) procedure (ASTM: D 1586). This test and sampling method consists of driving a standard 2-inch
outside diameter (UD) splii-barrel sampler a'distance of 18 inches into the soil with a 140-pound hammer,
free-falling a distance of 30 inches. The number of blows required to drive the sampler throueh each of
the three, 6-inch intervals is noted. The total number of blows suvck during the final 12 inches of
penetration is considered the Standard Pentration Resistance, or "blow counP'. If 50 or more blows are
struck within one 6-inch interval, the driving is ceased and the blow count is recorded as 50 blows for the
s res Augus 4, 20C3
Adap: Prajcc No. N'A03-9720 Pace 1 47
